BOI Terminal Expansion

Boise, idaho

General Contractor: Layton Construction
Architect: CSHQA
Description: The Boise Airport Terminal Expansion involved constructing a three-story terminal building in addition to a two-level roadway system, an expanded air carrier apron and additional parking. The old terminal remained operational until completion of Phase I of the project.  The new terminal building includes baggage handling, baggage claim areas, ticket lobby, central rotunda, airline operations offices, airport administration and support areas, and mechanical and electrical service areas.

The terminal design is reminiscent of Idaho's outdoor beauty, with architectural design elements symbolizing flowing rivers, river rock, mountains and a stone masonry exterior. Because of the nationwide push for increased airport security measures, the team worked through a number of mandated security changes imposed by the FAA and Dept. of Homeland Security. The resulting terminal was the most modern and advanced airport facility in the U.S. upon completion.

Total Project Cost: $110 Million
Project Size: 378,000 sf
